DESIGNER SERIES:

AMERICAN SPIRIT TABLE RUNNER: This month we’re featuring Judy Martin in our designer series. This easy project is inspired by one in her “Cookies and Quilts” book, and will appeal both to beginners and those who want a quick scrap project. Tues., March 10, 10 am OR 7 pm. $16SCRAP CLASSES:

AMERICA HURRAH! Show your spirit and decorate your home with this paper foundation pieced miniature. Bordered and framed, it’s a little marvel. Doesn’t even need quilting! Two hours, Sat., Mar. 14, OR Tues., Apr. 21, 10 am. $18

ZIP -AND -GO BAG: I admit it: I love to make bags. This one resulted from my latest attempt to use up my small green scraps (but there are still some left in my basket!!) The flat foundation lends itself to unlimited variations (you’ll get lots of ideas in class), but the shape makes it roomy and practical for many uses. Two hours, Sat. Mar. 21, 10 am OR Thurs., Apr. 16, 6:30 pm. $15

SIMPLY CRAZY: This quilt top is deceptively easy to make. Rotary cut and machine stitched, it’s a fun project in any size or fabric combination. Two hours, Sat., March 28, 10 am.$20

BEGINNER Counted Cross Stitch: If you’re new to needlework, this is a great place to start. This very portable and enjoyable technique requires a minimum of materials but yields beautiful results. All materials for the project are included in the class fee. Look at the cross stitched items in our shop and be inspired ! Tues., Mar. 31 10 am. $12

SALAD QUILT: This lap size quilt top (an EMQ exclusive) is rotary cut in big pieces and machine stitched in big blocks so it’s an easy project, and so beautiful in today’s big prints. Coordinated kits are available; class sample is made from Cider Mill Road prints from Benartex). Two hours, Friday, March 27, 10 am OR Sat., Apr. 18, 6:30 pm. $20

CHILD’S JACKET: Just in time for spring, this darling jacket will delight your favorite little one. Two hours, Wed., Apr. 22, 10 am. $16

FINISHING CLASS: This class will be offered on a fairly regular basis, for those who need a bit of help or just a nudge to start or finish those UFOs. Two hours, Sat., Apr. 4, 10 am. $15

BASIC QUILTING 1 (or “Quilting Demystified”) My favorite class to teach. It’s delightful to hear a student (who arrived timid and nervous at the first class) admit several weeks later that quilting, is, indeed, great fun! You’ll start at square one and learn all you need to know about making a traditional sampler quilt. Six weekly 90 -minute sessions, beginning Wed. March 4, 10 am OR 7 pm. $45

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Surprise your family members (or anyone) with a decorative wall hanging that makes them a star on their special day. An EMQ exclusive, featuring that current favorite, the cupcake, complete with birthday candle and sprinkles! Two hours, Fri., March 20, 10 am OR Mar. 26, 6:30 pm. $18

QUILT CLASSICS: Dresden PlateThis is one of my favorite patterns. You’ll learn to draft, sew, then “tweak” this favorite classic block – the possibilities are almost endless. It’s a long-time favorite because it’s not difficult to sew. Two hours, Friday, April 3, 10 am OR 6:30 pm. $20

LOG CABIN SERIES QUILT: “SYLVAN FLORA”Yes, it’s really a log cabin variation! And no, it’s not that difficult. Get the details and make the quilt in this fun class. Easy sewing! An EMQ exclusive. Four hours; Sat., April 25, 10 am.$25 (bring a bag lunch)

BASIC SEWING: Come and learn how to use a pattern, a rotary cutter, and your sewing machine to make a “green” shopping bag that‘s sturdy enough for heavy groceries. Two hours; Sat., Mar. 7, 10 am OR Thur., March 19, 6:30 pm. $18KIDS CLASSES:

Lunch bag: much more fun than a brown bag, and a great learning project for those who are new to machine sewing. Two fat quarters are all the fabric you’ll need for this roomy bag. Two hours; Sat., March 14, 2 pm. $15

Beginning Counted Cross Stitch: It’s amazing how a simple “X” can become a lovely design. If you can count, you can cross stitch! Thurs., Mar. 5 10 am $12

Nine Patch pillow: In this class, nine little squares become a fun pillow for your room (or a friend’s). Get comfortable with your sewing machine and learn some basic patchwork skills while making this project. Class fee includes precut kit. Two hours:
